Finally it happened! It has now become possible to register an official marriage with a foreigner online. Same-sex couples can also get married online!

How does the process work?

To get married, lovers do not have to be nearby.

Each of you can be in your own country, at home.

The wedding ceremony takes place online via Zoom.

You can each remain in your own country and at the same time register an official marriage. 2 witnesses are also needed.

The marriage is registered under the jurisdiction of the United States.

Today, registering a marriage online in the USA is easy. In the United States, marriage has been allowed and is recognized as legal at the legislative level, which is registered in the online program Zoom.

Stage 1. Submitting documents and receiving a marriage certificate

You pay the fee, send your documents, a completed application form and an agreement. We receive your marriage certificate (marriage application), its validity is 30 days.

Stage 2. Select the date of painting

and book a suitable time for painting for all ceremony participants. Usually this is evening time.

Stage 3. Wedding ceremony

The ceremony lasts 30 minutes. The participation of two newlyweds and two witnesses is required.

Stage 4. Obtaining a paper marriage certificate

30-40 days after registration, you will receive two paper marriage certificates by mail, one copy of the certificate will be with an apostille.

What documents are needed for online marriage?

The package of documents for online marriage is minimal, you need:

Your international passports – photo of the main page of the international passport (the page where your photo and basic information)

2 witnesses over 18 years of age

Final Divorce Papers If You Are Divorced

If the divorce took place within 60 days before the wedding, then you need a legalized divorce/death certificate (apostille or consular legalization), if there was a marriage and divorce/death of the spouse.

Is this marriage recognized in the EU and CIS countries?

The marriage certificate is legalized by an apostille; accordingly, all countries that have acceded to the 1961 Hague Convention are required to recognize this marriage. What should you do after getting married online to a foreigner in order to legally live with your spouse in your country of permanent residence?

After getting married online, you must go through a process similar to if you were registering your marriage with a foreigner offline: you need to submit documents for family reunification to the competent authorities (department for working with foreigners or the embassy of your country in the foreigner’s homeland), which in your country of residence are responsible for issuing foreigners with a residence permit.
