3-hour walking tour in Kiel

We will start our tour from the main railway station building.

The history of Kiel began in the period between 1233 and 1242, when the count Adolf the Fourth Holstein founded the city. In November 1918 Kiel uprising took place.

Kiel is the largest city in Schleswig-Holstein, with a population of approximately 240.000 inhabitants, located at the very end of the "Kieler Förde Bay" of the Baltic Sea.

Kiel main attraction is the shopping district.

We will visit the Town Hall (Rathaus), built in 1911, on the basis of the draft from Venice, St. Nicholas Church at the Old Market, the Opera Hose.

The town has several lakes and parks, for example, Schrevenpark.

There are two botanical gardens, the Alter Botanischer Garten and the Neuer Botanischer Garten.

In the summer you should definitely visit Kiel week: with its fairs and the sailing ships parade.

Kiel was destroyed during the World War II.

The St. Nicholas Church at the old market, the Town Hall, the Opera House.

In the village of Laboè that is in 20 km from the Centre of the city there is well known Germany Memorial devoted to sailors died in the World War I and World War II. It is of 72 meters height.
